Those who want to really disconnect, walk slowly and alternate between city, wellness and sea without worry.
Relaxing weekend in Cagliari: 2 or 3 day itinerary
Cagliari is not just sea, aperitifs and views: it is also a perfect city to live calmly, without rushing too much. If you want a slow & relaxing weekend, the key is to alternate the seaside experience well, well-being, slow breaks and a carefully constructed ending.
How to read this guide
Slow sea, spa, simple walks and green corners.
A few well-made stages, with plenty of time and services that help not force the day.
How to organize it
First morning: guided SUP or kayak excursion
If you want to start the weekend off right, the morning is perfect for a guided SUP or kayak excursion. The pace is slow, the sea in the early hours is often more beautiful and the guide is very good at keeping the experience relaxed but interesting. Furthermore, if you find the excursion open among the reservations, it is an excellent sign to take advantage of it: it means that the day promises really well for experiencing the sea calmly.
Wellness afternoon at the T Spa of the T Hotel
If you really want to unwind in the afternoon, a break at the T Spa at the T Hotel is one of the most beautiful solutions in the city. The heart is the Acqua Journey path, with a large hydrotherapy tub, hydromassage jets, Turkish bath, emotional showers and chromotherapy. It is the perfect stop when you want to regenerate after a morning on the sea or simply take some time in a well-kept and silent environment.
Slow sunset in Su Siccu
To end the first day without doing anything too challenging, a walk in Su Siccu is perfect. The seafront is pleasant, you can walk well, you can see the boats, the city profile and the steps of the Basilica of Bonaria from below, in one of the simplest stretches to experience calmly.
Second day: slow breakfast and sandwiches to take to the sea
The next day you can start calmly from Matrice Cagliari to have breakfast: the pastries are very popular and the location is convenient for still staying in the rhythm of the center. When you're done, you can stop by the Portuguese Bakery, in the San Michele neighborhood, to buy freshly prepared sandwiches at a very affordable price.
Sea break on the small beach towards the former Sant'Elia
You can enjoy the sandwiches directly at the seaside, but not necessarily in the classic Poetto. A quieter solution is the small beach at the beginning of the Sant'Elia seafront, towards the former stadium: a more intimate corner where you can stop, lie down and eat in peace without the continuous flow of the main beach.
Perfect ending: the sailing ship at sunset
Our favorite treat to say goodbye to Cagliari is the sailing ship ride at sunset. It is the service most consistent with a relaxing weekend: privacy, calm sea, warming light and that feeling of goodbye that only the gulf at sunset can give well.
Alternative to the sailing ship or third morning: Botanical Garden, Capuchin Garden and Roman Amphitheater
If you prefer to stay in the city instead of closing with the sailing ship, or if the weekend lasts three days, this is the greenest and most historic square to keep in mind. The Botanical Garden of Cagliari, inaugurated in 1866, is home to around 2,000 plant species including Mediterranean, succulent and tropical plants. From there you can go up towards the Capuchin Garden, created in 1595 as a space for the friars for medicinal plants, and end with the Roman Amphitheatre. In a short space you go from greenery to quietness to the most ancient and archaeological part of Cagliari.
Before booking
- If you find the guided SUP or kayak excursion available in the morning, take advantage of it: it is often the best sign to enjoy a beautiful window of the sea.
- For the T Spa it is best to check access and availability first: it is one of the most useful stops if you really want to get away for a few hours.
- Botanical Garden, Capuchin Garden and Roman Amphitheater work well both as a third morning and as an urban alternative to the sailing ship.
- If you want to end the weekend on the sea, leave the last part of the day free for the sailing ship at sunset.
